230 national and international company and 100,000 visitors
We visited ‘Digital World 2014’, an expo of the IT industry that is the biggest growing sector in Bangladesh. The expo was full of energy and people that gave us an idea of the tremendous growth of IT industry.
The government of Bangladesh has adopted a ‘Vision 2021’ plan and has laid out a series of development targets for 2021 with an aim to be a middle-income country by 2021. In Vision 2021, the IT sector is placed as the main growth driver and pillar of the export industry after the garments sector.
The four themes of this year’s expo were Mobile, E-commerce, Digital-Governance, and Software. This is the biggest IT expo in Bangladesh in which 230 national and international companies exhibited and around 100,000 people visited. Judging from a large number of exhibitors in private company section working on business-oriented application, the growing number of private companies is keen to digitalize their office work to make the operation efficiency. Furthermore, the operational internationalization is progressing, and one company has already expanded its business in 75 countries.
