The attractiveness of Eco-Friendly Jute
We have visited the expo on diversified jute products produced by SMEs of Bangladesh. The name of this project is “Jute: an eco-friendly alternative for a sustainable future” promoted by Business Facilitation Unit (BFU). About 21 SMEs participated in the expo, with a total of 250 various products displayed – such as a wallets, handbags, small memo pads, and knapsacks.
Jute plants are eco-friendly and absorb the enormous amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) compared to the normal plants. Jute does not generate any toxic gas when burnt. Therefore, this got an attention as global-warming prevention material. Furthermore, it is light and tough, so it is highly practical.
The SMEs in the Expo export products in different international markets such as UK, Switzerland and Netherland, but there has not been established a network with Japan. They are highly expected and very much keen to work with Japanese SMEs.
